I didn't learn this from a business school. I learned it from failing, three times, and finally looking at the one thing I had been avoiding: myself.
Where it started.
I grew up watching my father carry every part of his small tailoring shop, alone, late into every night. Cutting, stitching, collecting payments, managing customers. The shop could never grow beyond what one pair of hands could hold.
I promised myself I would build something bigger. I spent years in corporate life, learned the systems, and then went out on my own.
Three businesses, three failures.
I started three businesses. All three failed. For years, I believed I needed a better idea, a better market, a better plan.
It took me a long time to see what was really missing. It was me: my fears, my beliefs, my habits, and a lack of clarity about why any of it mattered. I weighed 104 kilograms and my days ran me, instead of the other way round.
The work that changed everything.
I started working on the person running the business. Environment, behaviour, capabilities, beliefs, values, identity, purpose, vision. The layers nobody had taught me to look at.
